Offenbach in Étretat
Offenbach had a spacious villa built in fashionable Étretat and spent many years there enjoying beautiful summer months with his family and friends. He invited illustrious guests such as Sardou, Doré and Bizet, where they exuberantly played legendary comedies and enjoyed the summer together. He named the house Villa Orpheus, after the play “Orpheus in the Underworld”, which brought him the money for the house.
The house later fell into disrepair and was renovated between 2016 and 2018.
