Carl Maria von Weber in Eutin
Weber was born in the very picturesque town of Eutin in the so called Holstein Switzerland. Still in his first year of life, the Weber family left the town, Weber still returned twice for visits. The small town maintains the memory of Weber in an exemplary manner.
Weber’s father wrongly held the title of nobility (“von” Weber) because the line had died out. His half-brother, Fridolin Weber, was the father of Mozart’s wife Constanze, from the Augsburg line. Thus Carl Maria was a cousin by marriage of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
